2024 Committee Information
Lake Management Committee (Mark Jacobson, Chairman) – Responsible for strategic activities related to shoreline, in lake, and watershed water quality research and improvement projects. This would include fishing improvement and phosphorus inactivation projects. This committee also oversees the Comprehensive Lake Management Plan. The Committee Chair serves as a liaison with the WI DNR, Polk County Water Resources Department and Polk County Lakes and Rivers (PCLAR).
Lake Monitoring Committee (Ryan Hanson, Chairman) – Responsible for tactical activities related to shoreline, in lake, watershed quality and self-help water monitoring data. Activities include oversight of collecting water samples for lake data, buoy management, AIS monitoring, clean boats/clean waters program, fish and dam inspections, water patrol and neighborhood watch programs. Doug Drake oversees the clean boats/clean waters program, Joel Anderson oversees the neighborhood watch program, Dave Millard oversees the AIS monitoring, Don Springer oversees the buoy management and John Mahoney oversees the fish and dam inspections.
Social and Events Committee (Karen Ohm, Chairwoman) – Responsible for overseeing the activities of the trustee network representing lake association members. Responsible for developing & distributing membership application for residents and recruiting business memberships. This committee is also responsible for overseeing social activities including Spring Social, 4th of July activities and Fall Recognition Dinner. Outreach activities such as the Sunshine Club and the 400 Club are handled by this committee. Lee Ann Overman leads the Sunshine Club and Pat Teiken leads the 400 Club.
Communication Committee (Jim Andersen, Chairman) – Facilitates the development and delivery of educational presentations/publications responsive to needs identified by the Executive Committee and/or Board of Trustees. This committee is responsible for coordinating publication of the annual lake directory and oversees the Assocation’s email, website & Facebook accounts and Lake Scene distribution.
Nominating/Review Committee (Marty Noonan, Chairman) – Interviews prospective candidates for officer positions and prepares a list of nominees to present the membership prior to the Annual Meeting in the odd-numbered years. This committee may recommend an individual for Honorary Life Membership. This committee shall receive, review and verify all records, accounts, transactions and financial reports of the Treasurer and reconcile with invoices, bank statements, receipts and canceled checks. This committee shall present a report with observations and recommendations to the general membership at every Annual Meeting.
Ways and Means Committee (Linda Lawrence, Chairwoman) - Establishes criteria for donations of the WBTLA funds. This committee will establish a program to receive and evaluate requests and make recommendations. The goal is to further support benefits to our lakes.
Outstanding Recognition Committee (Dave Nelson, Chairman) - Formal program to recognize outstanding volunteer service and contributions for our lake association. Each year the committee evaluates and makes their selections which are recognized at the fall social dinner.
Membership Committee (Don Springer, Chairman) - Responsible for yearly campaigns to promote membership dues that support the lake association's efforts to improve our two lakes and provide social events. The membership drive starts in early spring with the mail out of our new membership forms that include email options for dues, directory listing information and volunteer opportunities. The committee maintains the list of lake residents and paid membership. This data base is used for the Lake Scene distribution as well as the annual lake directory.
